There's something sweet about waiting for something you've chosen, isn't there?
Desire has time to settle in. The piece arrives already a little lived-in, imagined long before it is worn.
Perhaps true luxury today no longer lies in the instant, but rather in being able to take your time, and to choose without impulse.
So pre-order isn't a wait. It's making room for what matters.
In conventional fashion, clothes are often produced before anyone knows how many will actually sell. Some end up on sale, in dormant stock, are simply never sold, or are even destroyed.
Pre-order reverses that logic to make only what is truly wanted.
At COPAIN.E, we open orders before production begins. You choose your piece, we gather the orders, then we start production with our workshop in Paris.
It asks for something contemporary fashion has gradually made us forget: waiting.
A COPAIN.E piece is therefore not available immediately. It is made after you order it, in Paris, with the time its making requires. That wait is part of the model.
Who is it for?
It's for those who take the time to choose. Who don't feel the need to have everything, right now. Who think about what they buy and what it implies, and trust their own eye rather than speed or influence.
Choosing on pre-order also means knowing what you want.
You've seen the piece. You've imagined it in your wardrobe, on your body. You chose it because you love it, not because it was available straight away.
So waiting a few weeks becomes quite simple: when you're sure of your choice, you don't need to have it right away.
Another sense of time
Pre-order doesn't claim to solve the textile industry's problems on its own. It simply makes a different choice possible: not systematically producing more than necessary.
- Less volume.
- More intention.
- Pieces designed to last.
That is also why we don't try to multiply collections.
A few pieces, made once. For those who chose them, and who think before they buy.
